Hi, my name is Alexia Hyams and I'm a Speech Pathologist in the Hills district, Sydney
I am a highly experienced paediatric speech pathologist. I graduated from the University of Sydney in 1997 and hold a Bachelor of Applied Science, in Speech Pathology. Initially my focus was in community health settings around Sydney, as well as non-profit organisations.

I am member of Speech Pathology Australia (MSPA) and a Certified Practising Speech Pathologist (CPSA). The letters signify that I am registered with the National Australian Organisation, Speech Pathology Australia, and participate in a variety of professional development activities each year. These activities may include:

• Attending or presenting at workshops and conferences
• Reading journal articles and books
• Completing online courses
• Mentoring other speech pathologists
• Updating with new test equipment
• Developing new treatment programs

Working with a Certified Practising Speech Pathologist is one way that parents have of ensuring they are receiving a quality service with a practitioner who is committed to maintaining up-to-date professional standards.

I have a special interest in the assessment and treatment of:

• Speech sound disorders - children who are difficult to understand.
• Delayed language development or what‘s commonly called, ‘late talkers’
• Preschool language disorders and preparing children for the language required in their first year in school
• Stuttering disorders in children and intervention using the ‘Lidcombe Program’

I provide therapy in a fun and friendly environment - children learn best when they are having fun and enjoy what they are doing.
